A Day in NYC in Photos

In a taxi on the way in to Manhattan.

My hotel was on 28th Street which is right in the middle of the wholesale district.  As the pictures below would indicate, my street specialized in plants.

There was a story about the NYC wholesale district (and particularly about stores on 29th street) on NPR a day or two ago.  If it's still included with the story, I would really like to find the rubber duck that's pictured (and I looked in the stores along 29th!).

A "guard cat" in one of the plant shop windows.

I thought I would try something new, so I had lunch at Franchia which is a vegan restaurant.

I had sweet corn cilantro pancakes and vermicelli spring rolls with mango citron sauce.  Needles to say, I really enjoyed my lunch.  (I guess I should have taken a picture of my food before I ate it.)

Stopped by Baked by Melissa for a little dessert.

And I stopped by Nat Sherman's for a cigar (which I didn't get a chance to smoke).

And it wouldn't be a trip to NYC without a trip to at least one (or two or maybe three) bookstore(s).

Current parking rates in NYC.

Don't know if I'd rather have my car parked on the top or lowest level in one of these things.

 Interesting building detail.

The ice skating rink at Rockefeller Center without any ice.

Some shots of and from the High Line:

 Don't worry, it's just a poster.

I was in NYC for the Affordable Art Fair.

Unfortunately, I didn't find anything because most of the stuff looked like this.

I thought this picture of the Lone Ranger was pretty original.

I'm not sure if you can tell from this detail picture from the Lone Ranger, but the art work was put together with paint color cards like you get from the hardware/paint store.

Wasn't able to make it to my favorite place for dinner (Hale & Hearty), so I ended up at another vegan restaurant, Loving Hut.

By the way, did you see me in the reflection of the Baked by Melissa photo?
